How to: Change the Database Administrator's Password
As the database administrator, you have a special password that is used to run the Visual SourceSafe Administrator program. By default, a blank password is created for you when you are registered with the Admin user group. Microsoft recommends that you provide a password on first use of Visual SourceSafe Administrator.
Warning
Be sure to write your administrative password in a safe place. If you forget the password, you cannot run Visual SourceSafe Administrator to change it. Microsoft Support Professionals cannot assist, under any circumstances, in the breaking of passwords applied to files and features within Microsoft programs.
To change your administrative password:
In Visual SourceSafe Administrator, select Admin in the user list.
On the Users menu, click Change Password.
In the Change Password dialog box, leave the Old password box blank.
Enter your new password in the New password box. Your password can be up to 15 characters long, and can contain any characters.
In the Verify box, re-enter the new password.
Click OK to register the new administrative password.
