DTP_BUFFCOL.lMaxLength Field

Indicates the maximum length of the data stored in a buffer column.

Namespace: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.Wrapper
Assembly: Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap (in microsoft.sqlserver.dtspipelinewrap.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
Public lMaxLength As Integer
public int lMaxLength
public:
int lMaxLength
public int lMaxLength
public var lMaxLength : int

Remarks

The value is important for variable length types such as DT_BYTES and DT_STR because it determines the amount of storage available in the buffer for the column. The value does not include space for a trailing null terminator though one is allocated and supplied by the buffer for DT_STR, DT_WSTR, and DT_TEXT types. For string types, the value is the number of characters. For fixed length and binary large object (BLOB) types, the value is ignored and contains a zero.
