How to: Modify a Data Source in Data Source Designer (Analysis Services)

In Business Intelligence Development Studio, open the project or connect to the database that contains the data source that you want to modify.

In Solution Explorer, expand the Data Sources folder and then do one of the following:

• Double-click the data source.

• Right-click the data source and then click Open.

• If you are within an Analysis Services project, right-click the data source and then click View Designer.

In the Data Source Designer dialog box, modify the data source by doing any of the following:

• Modify the data source name, connection string, data source reference, query timeout, and data source description, and then click OK.

  Note

  If the Maintain a reference to another object in the solution option is selected, then the Connection string option is not available.

• To cease maintaining a reference to another object in the solution for a referenced data source object, clear the Maintain a reference to another object in the solution check box.

  You can now edit the connection string in the Connection String text box.

• To establish a reference to another object in the solution, select the Maintain a reference to another object in the solution check box, select to type of reference in the drop-down list, and then select the data source or project.

• To change the impersonation settings for this data source, click the Impersonation Information tab and then modify the impersonation setting as appropriate.

Click OK to save the updated data source properties.
