Creating Report Datasets for a Report Model (Report Builder 2.0)

Report Builder 2.0 provides a data processing extension that supports retrieving data from a report model that has been published to a report server. To connect to a report model, you can browse to a report server and select a published model.

After you have connected to a report model data source, you can create a dataset and define a query that specifies the entities and fields to include in your report. By using the report model query designer, you can interactively specify entities and fields, and a filter for the query. These entities and fields from the model become the dataset field collection displayed in the Report Data pane. For more information, see Report Model Query Designer User Interface (Report Builder 2.0) and "Working with Data [Report Builder]" in the Reporting Services documentation in SQL Server Books Online.

After you create a dataset, you can drag fields from the Report Data pane to the report design surface and design your report.

For more information about models, see "Working with Models" in the Reporting Services documentation in SQL Server Books Online.
