Get Network Adapter

Applies To: System Center 2012 - Orchestrator, System Center 2012 R2 Orchestrator, System Center 2012 SP1 - Orchestrator

The Get Network Adapter activity is used to retrieve an existing Virtual Network Adapter based on the filters you specify.

For the procedure to configure this activity, see Configuring the Get Network Adapter Activity.

The following tables list the properties and published data for this activity. The activity publishes all of the data from the required and optional properties into published data.

Modified Time

The most recent date and time that the Virtual Network Adapter was modified, in the format mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss AM or PM

Network Location

The Virtual Network Location, for example, contoso.com

Network Tag

An alphanumeric value to differentiate the host’s virtual networks, based on a criterion such as throughput or security. Network tags can be used to match virtual machines with suitable hosts.

Physical Address

The Virtual Network Adapter physical address, in the format 00:00:00:00:00:00

Physical Address Type

Dynamic or Static

Virtual Network Adapter ID

The unique identifier (GUID) of the Virtual Network Adapter

Virtual Network Adapter Name

The name of the Network Adapter, which is auto-generated.

Virtual Network Adapter Type

Emulated or Synthetic

Virtual Network Name

The name of the Virtual Network specified at the host level of the Virtual Machine Manager configuration

VLAN Enabled

True or False

VLAN ID

The unique identifier (GUID) of the VLAN, if enabled

VM ID

The unique identifier (GUID) of the virtual machine for which the network adapter is being created.

VMW Adapter Index

The index number of the Virtual Network Adapter

Configuring the Get Network Adapter Activity

To configure the Get Network Adapter activity

  1. From the Activities window, drag a Get Network Adapter activity to the active runbook window. Double-click the Get Network Adapter activity icon.

  2. Click the Filters tab.

  3. In the Configuration section, click the ellipsis button (...), and select the Name of the Virtual Machine Manager computer that you want to connect to with this activity. Click OK.

  4. In the Filters section, at least one filter is required to define the activity. Click Add. In the Name box, click the down arrow and select an item from the list.

  5. In the Relation box, click the down arrow and select a relationship descriptor for the filter.

  6. In the Value box, click the ellipsis button (...) and select a value to be applied to this filter. If the ellipsis button (...) does not appear for the filter you have selected, enter the value you want to use. Click OK.

  7. Add additional filters as needed, and then click Finish.

  8. To make changes to a filter, click the filter and then click Edit. Make the necessary changes, and then click OK. To remove a filter, click the filter, and then click Remove.

  10. Click Finish.
