Accessing a Visual FoxPro Data Source from Office Components

You can easily access Visual FoxPro data from Office applications.

Importing Visual FoxPro Data into Microsoft Excel

You can import Visual FoxPro data into your Microsoft Excel XP worksheet using the Visual FoxPro OLE DB Provider only in Office XP.

To import Visual FoxPro data into an Microsoft Excel worksheet

  1. From the Data menu in an Excel spreadsheet, select Import External Data.
  2. In the Select Data Source dialog box, click New Source Data Connection wizard.
  3. Select Other/Advanced, and choose VFP Provider.
  4. In the Select/Enter database name box, type the database or free table directory, and then click OK.
  5. Select the table to which you want to connect, and click OK.

Importing Visual FoxPro Data into Microsoft Word

You can use the OLE DB Provider to place Visual FoxPro data in a Microsoft Word XP document.

To import Visual FoxPro data into a Microsoft Word Document

  1. In the View menu Toolbars option, make the Database toolbar visible.
  2. Click Insert Database, and in the Database dialog box, click Get Data.
  3. In the Select Data Source dialog box, click New Source Data Connection wizard.
  4. Select Other/Advanced, and choose VFP Provider.
  5. In the Select/Enter database name box, type the database or free table directory, then click OK.
