Windows SharePoint Portal Server is installed

The information in this article applies to:

  • Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server

  • Visual Studio Team System 2008 Team Foundation Server

  • SharePoint Products and Technologies

  • Application-tier server

  • Preinstall check

For this rule, the Best Practices Analyzer tool for Team Foundation Server queries the registry of the servers specified in the scan. An error appears if Windows SharePoint Portal Server is installed on any of the following servers:

  • Single server on which Team Foundation Server is installed (single-server deployment)

  • Application-tier server on which Team Foundation Server is installed

  • Server on which Team Foundation Server Proxy is installed

  • Server that hosts the default Web site for Team Foundation

  • Server that hosts the SharePoint Central Administration site for Team Foundation

Team Foundation Server does not work with Windows SharePoint Portal Server. To resolve this issue, you must uninstall Windows SharePoint Portal Server and then install a version of SharePoint Products and Technologies that your version of Team Foundation Server supports.

For Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server, you can install the following SharePoint Products and Technologies:

  • Windows SharePoint Services 2.0

  • Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

For Visual Studio Team System 2008 Team Foundation Server, you can install the following SharePoint Products and Technologies:

  • Windows SharePoint Services 2.0

  • Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

  • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
