Unexpected server bindings are set

The information in this article applies to:

  • Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server

  • Visual Studio Team System 2008 Team Foundation Server

  • Application-tier server

  • Health check

The Best Practices Analyzer tool for Team Foundation Server queries the metabase for Internet Information Services (IIS). This query determines the server bindings, such as the IP address and host header name, that are defined for Web sites on which Team Foundation relies.

A warning appears if any Web site is not configured with the default server bindings. Team Foundation Server uses the identities in the following table:

Service

IP Address

Host Header Name

Default Web Site

(All Unassigned)

None

Team Foundation Server Web Service

(All Unassigned)

None

SharePoint Central Administration Service

(All Unassigned)

None

Note

You do not need to resolve this issue. Before you change any bindings, you must determine why the server bindings for a Web site were changed so that you do not violate any organizational policies.

To resolve the issue, log on to the application-tier server, and change the server bindings to the Web site that the warning specifies.

Required Permissions

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators security group on the application-tier server.
