Importing Resource Script Files Created by Other Applications

The following procedure explains how to import resource script files created by other applications.

To update an existing resource script file for use within the development environment

  1. Make a backup copy of your existing resource script (.rc) file.

  2. Add the .rc file to your project.

  3. Open the .rc file in the development environment.

    Note   The development environment uses the include path set using the Directories tab in the Options dialog box. In addition, relative include paths for an .rc file in the development environment for Visual C++ must be based on the directory where the .rc file is currently located.

  4. Save the new version of the .rc file.

Reading in and then saving .rc files created by other applications modifies the organization of those .rc files.
