Unable to Find NTOSKRNL.EXE

Learn what to do when you receive this error message.

Resolution

  1. Be sure that you copied Boot.ini, Ntdetect.com, and Ntldr from your run-time image to the root directory of your target system's boot drive, and that you overwrote prior versions of these files.

  2. Be sure that you added a kernel to your configuration. Examples of kernel components include Ntoskrnl.exe, Ntkrnlmp.exe, and Ntkrnlpa.exe.
