Step 2: Add the Bootable CD-ROM Components to your Configuration

Before your run-time image can be deployed onto a CD-ROM, you must add the bootable CD-ROM support components.
To add the bootable CD-ROM components to your configuration
In Target Designer, open your configuration, bootablecd.slx.
Add the following components to your configuration:
- El Torito CD Support
- Winlogon Sample Macro
Choose Check dependencies from the Configuration menu. Resolve any dependency issues. The El Torito CD Support components are added to the configuration.
Note
If your configuration includes the standard NTLDR component, disable it before you build your run-time image. The EWF NTLDR and the standard NTLDR component will conflict with each other during the dependency check.
Edit the Enhanced Write Filter settings by expanding the Enhanced Write Filter component in the configuration pane and choosing Settings. The Enhanced Write Filter settings appear in the details pane.
- Clear the Start EWF Enabled check box in the component settings. When First Boot Agent (FBA) runs on the target system, EWF must be disabled.
- Verify that Disk Number equals 0 and Partition Number equals 1 for the target disk volume.
- Select RAM as the Overlay Type.
Using Enhanced Write Filter requires a command line on your run-time image. If you are using the Explorer shell, use the following instructions.
- Under the User Interface Core component, select Settings. The User Interface Core settings appear in the details pane.
- Select Show Run on Start Menu.
After you add the required features to support bootable CD-ROMs, choose Check dependencies from the Configuration menu. Resolve any dependency issues.
After all dependency issues are resolved, on the Configuration menu, choose Build Target Image. The Build bootable cd window appears.
In the Destination field, verify that the image will be built in the Windows Embedded Images directory.
Choose Build. Your run-time image is built in the Windows Embedded Images directory.
Save your configuration by choosing Save as from the File menu.
Close Target Designer.
After you build your run-time image, you must format and prepare the deployment hard disk.
In Target Designer, open your configuration, bootablecd.slx.
Add the following components to your configuration:
- El Torito CD Support
- Winlogon Sample Macro
Choose Check dependencies from the Configuration menu. Resolve any dependency issues. The El Torito CD Support components are added to the configuration.
