Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)
1/6/2010
The Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) enables interoperability between Bluetooth devices with audio-visual capabilities.
AVRCP controls a target device that plays audio** based on the commands generated by the controller device, such as a remote control.
Note
AVRCP is not responsible for performing audio streaming. This functionality is provided by the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP).
The following illustration shows the architecture of AVRCP.
The following table shows the main AVRCP components:
Component | Description |

Audio/Video Control Transport Control Protocol (AVCTP) |
This component is an extension layer to the L2CAP layer in the Microsoft Bluetooth Protocol Stack and the implementation is included in Btd.dll. This layer handles transport services related to audio control between target and the controller. It receives audio control commands from the controller through the lower layers of the stack passes them to the overlying AVRCP plug-in for processing. The following list shows the supported commands:
