Unimodem (Compact 7)

3/12/2014

In Windows Embedded Compact, Unimodem is a telephony service provider (TSP) that provides access to Hayes-compatible AT-command-based modems. You can also create a custom TSP by using the Telephony Service Provider Interface (TSPI).

The Unimodem service provider is a separate dynamic-link library (DLL) that translates Telephony Application Programming Interface (TAPI) function calls into AT-based modem commands to configure and dial modems. TAPI manages the use of devices, ports, and call traffic by the application. Unimodem supports commands for configuring and dialing Hayes-compatible AT-command-based modems. To implement other media types, such as Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), you must create a customized TSP.

Using the direct cable connect (DCC) support in Unimodem, you can connect to other computers to share the resources of the designated host computer. If the host is connected to a network, the guest computer can also access the network.

To add this feature to your OS, see Unimodem Catalog Items and Sysgen Variables.

For reference information, see Unimodem Registry Settings.
