Setting up the NEC Solution Gear 2 Series Development Kit Hardware

The following steps show you how to connect the NEC Solution Gear 2 Series Development Kit to a development workstation.

To set up the NEC Solution Gear 2 Series Development Kit hardware

  1. On the baseboard, insert the CPU card into connector CN7.

  2. Connect an Ethernet cable to the network connector on the NEC Solution Gear 2 Series Development Kit and to the development workstation or Ethernet hub.

  3. Connect a serial cable to the debug serial port.

    Note   On the baseboard, the debug serial port is on top and the product serial, COM1, is on the bottom.

  4. In one of the PCI slots on the baseboard, insert the video card.

    Note   If you are using the Permedia3 video card, it will only work if you insert it into one of the two 3.3V slots, which are PCI slots 1 and 2.

    If you are using a TVIA5000 video card, use either of the two 5V PCI slots, which are PCI slots 3 and 4. Ensure that there is a jumper on JP3.

  5. On the connector CN6 on the baseboard, connect the ATX power supply.

  6. Press S1 to turn the system on.

    Note   Press S2 to perform a soft reset of the device.
