Native 802.11 IHV UI Extensions DLL

Important  The Native 802.11 Wireless LAN interface is deprecated in Windows 10 and later. Please use the WLAN Device Driver Interface (WDI) instead. For more information about WDI, see WLAN Universal Windows driver model.

The independent hardware vendor (IHV) can extend the Native 802.11 Network Configuration UI through a Native 802.11 IHV UI Extensions DLL. By using this DLL, the IHV can do the following:

  • Customize and extend the functionality of 802.11 connectivity or security properties. For example, the Native 802.11 IHV UI Extensions DLL can add buttons to the Connection or Security tabs that are used to launch an IHV UI.

  • Launch an IHV UI as a result of a request made by the IHV Extensions DLL by calling Dot11ExtSendUIRequest.

Depending on the state of the Native 802.11 Network Configuration UI, the IHV UI will either be displayed as a set of wizard pages from within the standard configuration UI or as a stand-alone UI that launches after a balloon notification has been clicked.

For more information about the Native 802.11 Network Configuration UI, see Native 802.11 Software Architecture.

The Native 802.11 IHV UI Extensions DLL extends the network configuration UI through the following COM Interfaces:

In addition, the Native 802.11 IHV UI Extensions DLL can display a custom UI through the IWizardExtension COM Interface.
