Notes

  • To open DHCP, click Start, click Settings, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click DHCP.

  • When adding a reservation, the DHCP server checks for the address you enter in the database to make sure it is not currently in use by another client.

  • Reservations are applied on the basis of the DHCP client media access control (MAC) address for the applicable network connection. To locate this address, at the client computer, type ipconfig /all at a command prompt, and view the Physical Address for the connection. Alternately, you can right-click the connection in the Network Connections folder, and select Properties to view this information.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
