Notes
To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group, or have been delegated the appropriate authority, on the local computer. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure. For more information, see Default local groups, Default groups, and Using Run as.
To open Task Scheduler, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Scheduled Tasks.
The Task Scheduler log file lists all past scheduled tasks under all users, including members of the Administrators group and the System account. The file is located in the \Windows\Tasks folder, and is named SchedLgU.txt. In the SchedLgU.txt file, to see the most recent task that has run, find the following text:
[ ***** Most recent entry is above this line ***** ]. The most recent task that has run is the entry directly above this text.
The default log file size is 32 kilobytes.
When the log file reaches its maximum size, it automatically starts recording new information at the beginning of the log file and writes over old log file information.
