Track Message Queuing service counters
Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2
To track Message Queuing service counters
Open System Monitor.
In the details pane, click the Add (+) button on the toolbar.
In the Add Counters dialog box, click Use local computer counters to view counters on the computer that you are using. Or, to view counters for another computer, click Select counters from computer, and then click the applicable computer.
In Performance object, click the arrow that opens the list, and then select MSMQ Service.
Click All counters. Or, click Select counters from list, and then select the counters that you want to monitor.
Click Add.
To view the definition of a counter, select a counter name, and then click Explain.
Click Close.
The monitor graphs appear in the details pane.
Notes
To open System Monitor, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Performance.
To delete a counter from those tracked, in System Monitor, choose the required counter in the details pane, and then click the Delete (X) button on the toolbar.
You can also use this procedure to track other categories of Message Queuing performance objects, including MSMQ Session, MSMQ Incoming HTTP Traffic, MSMQ Outgoing HTTP Session, MSMQ Outgoing Multicast Session, and MSMQ Incoming Multicast Session objects.
You can view performance data from System Monitor in Chart, Report, or Histogram views, and you can log the performance data to a file. For more information on System Monitor, see System Monitor overview.
