Allow a user to log on to the server automatically
Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2
To allow a user to log on to the server automatically
Open Terminal Services Configuration.
In the console tree, click Connections.
In the details pane, right-click the connection through which you want to allow a user to log on automatically, and then click Properties.
On the Logon Settings tab, click Always use the following logon information.
This setting enables you to configure logon information for a user. However, you should be aware that when all users are logged in under the same account, it is more difficult to track down a user who might be causing trouble.
In User name, type the name of the user you want to allow to log on to the server automatically.
In Domain, type the name of the domain to which the user's computer belongs.
In both Password and Confirm password, type the user's password.
Click Always prompt for password to specify that the user is prompted for a password before logging on to the server.
Notes
To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure. For more information, see Default local groups, Default groups, and Using Run as.
To open Terminal Services Configuration, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Terminal Services Configuration.
