Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications Configuration identifies problems with the configuration of Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications, particularly how registry permissions are assigned to users of Windows-based computers you are using to port applications from UNIX-based environments.

Resolve
Verify registry permissions
Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications was unable to read or write to the Windows Registry, and must use default settings instead. The text of the message in Event Viewer provides the name of the registry key for which access failed.
To confirm that the computer running Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications has access permissions to the Windows registry:
- Open the Registry Editor.
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open text box, and then click OK.
- In the hierarchy pane, navigate to the registry key identified by the error message. With the key highlighted, click Permissions on the Edit menu to open the Permissions for Registry Key dialog box. Verify that the user SYSTEM has Full Control permissions.
- Click Add to add the SYSTEM user if it is not already listed in the Group or user names list box on the Security tab. If needed, assign Full Control permissions to SYSTEM in the Permissions for User list box. Click OK.
- Close the Registry Editor. Restart the computer.
Verify
After Windows has completed its startup sequence, check Event Viewer to see if the following error is logged:
- Subsystem for Unix based Applications-Psxss event 1014
If this error has not been logged in Event Viewer, Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications (SUA) is running normally.
