Checklist: Import Data from LDIF Files

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

LDAP Data Interchange Format (LDIF) files provide a mechanism for importing schema definitions into an instance of Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS). You can use LDIF files to transfer objects between Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) and AD LDS partitions. You can import one of several Microsoft-supplied LDIF files to create user objects or proxy objects. You can also create LDIF files containing object definitions that are exported from other Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)–compliant directories.
