Checklist: Create a Replica of an Existing AD LDS Instance

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

Replicating Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) instances on multiple servers provides greater load balancing and fault tolerance by distributing application data across servers. A replica of an existing AD LDS instance contains replicated copies of the configuration and schema directory partitions, including any schema extensions. You can specify a running AD LDS instance as the source from which to replicate, or you can use a restored copy of a previously backed up AD LDS instance as the data source.
