To enable the streaming of content to clients over networks (either an intranet or the Internet), the Windows Media Services service must be running on the Windows Media server.

Resolve
No further action is required
The Windows Media Services service ignores service control requests from Service Control Manager (SCM) that it does not recognize and no further action is required. For more information, see MSDN: Service Control Requests.
Verify
To verify that the Windows Media Services service is running:
- Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
- In the list of services, verify that the Status for Windows Media Services is Started.
