Use the Terminal feature to log on to a remote computer
Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 7
You can use this procedure to configure your dial-up connection to display a terminal window to the remote computer that you can use to log on to the remote system.
Any user account can be used to complete this procedure.
To use the Terminal feature to log on to a remote computer
Open the Network Connections folder and view available connections.
Right-click the dial-up connection on which you want to use Terminal, and then click Properties.
On the Security tab, under Interactive logon and scripting, select the Show terminal window check box.
After you connect, the After Dial Terminal window appears and prompts you from the remote computer display.
Use the After Dial Terminal window to log on to the remote computer.
After you have completed all interactions with the remote computer, click Done. At this point, authentication on the remote access server begins.
Additional considerations
- If the logon sequence does not vary, you can write a script that automatically passes information to the remote computer during the logon sequence, which enables completely automatic connections. For more information, see Activate a logon script.
