If the Diagnostic Policy service is not running, associated diagnostics for problem detection, troubleshooting, and resolution for Windows components will not run.

Resolve
Start the service
Membership in the local Administrators group is required to complete this procedure.
To start the Diagnostic Policy service:
- Click Start, click in the Start Search box, type services.msc, and press ENTER.
- In the Name column, click Diagnostic Policy Service.
- Right-click Diagnostic Policy Service, and then click Start.
Verify
Membership in the local Administrators group is required to complete this procedure.
To verify that the Diagnostic Policy service is running:
- Click Start, click in the Start Search box, type services.msc, and press ENTER.
- Check if the status of Diagnostic Policy Service is Started. If the entry in the Status column is empty, the service is not running.
