Issue

The replication topology for the replication group '{2}' that this server belongs to is not fully connected. The DFS Replication protocol depends on the presence of enabled two-way connections between any two members that replicate each other.

Impact

The lack of any one of these connections can cause severe, permanent backlogs on one of the members and can also interfere with the ability of DFS Replication to resolve replication conflicts.

Resolution

Repair the disconnected topology by using DFS Management to create a connection, enable or disable replication, or enable or disable replication on a specific member.

To repair a disconnected topology, use the following procedure:

To repair a disconnected topology

  1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click DFS Management.

  2. In the console tree, under the Replication node, click the replication group that contains the disconnected topology.

  3. In the results pane, on the Connections tab, click View disconnected members in the error message at the top of the tab to open the Disconnected Topology dialog box.

  4. To view disconnected members, click a replicated folder in the Replicated folder list, and then expand the Disconnected Members. Make a note of the disconnected members in this list.

  5. Click Close.

  6. Repair the topology by performing any of the following procedures, as appropriate:

In some instances you might have to remove disconnected members and then add them back to the replication group to repair a disconnected topology.
