RD Virtualization Host Migration: Verifying the Migration

This topic contains instructions for verifying the migration of the RD Virtualization Host role service.
Verifying the migration of the RD Virtualization Host role service
Verify that the migration of the RD Virtualization Host role service was successful by verifying that all the virtual machines were migrated, and by connecting to a personal virtual desktop and a virtual desktop pool. Use the data recorded in the data worksheet at RD Virtualization Host Migration: Appendix A: Migration Data Collection Worksheets.
Refer to the following sections to verify that the migration of the RD Virtualization Host role service was successful:
Verify that the total number of virtual machines on the source and destination servers match
Verify that the migration of the personal virtual desktops was successful
Verify that the migration of the virtual desktop pools was successful
Verify that the total number of virtual machines on the source and destination servers match
Verify that the RD Virtualization Host server contains all the virtual machines that you migrated from the source server by comparing the number of virtual machines on the destination server to the number of virtual machines that you migrated. Verify that the total number of virtual machines is the same on both RD Virtualization Host servers.
Verify that the migration of the personal virtual desktops was successful
Next, verify that the migration of the personal virtual desktops was successful by connecting to a personal virtual desktop with the test user account.
To connect to a personal virtual desktop with the test user account
Log on to a remote desktop client. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.
In the Address bar, type https://<FQDN of the RD Web Access Server>/RDWeb and then press ENTER.
Note
If you see a warning that there is a problem with the certificate for this website, and a link that says Continue to this website (not recommended), it indicates that there is a problem with the SSL certificate. If your client and server are behind a firewall, you might choose to click the link to verify the connection; however, you should use a trusted certificate when deploying RD Web Access in a production environment. For more information, see Remote Desktop Services Migration Overview: Migrating Certificates.
If your SSL certificate was generated by an enterprise certification authority (CA) in your organization, and it has not been signed by a CA that is trusted by Microsoft, it might also indicate that your client has not been configured correctly. For more information, see Install the RD Web Access server root certificate on the Remote Desktop Services client.
In the Domain\user name box, type the name of the test user.
In the Password box, type the password that you specified for the test user, and then click Sign in.
Note
If you receive a prompt asking you to install the Microsoft Remote Desktop Services Web Access Control, click Run Add-on, and then click Run.
Click My Desktop, and then click Connect.
When prompted, enter the credentials for the test user, and then click OK.
Verify that the migration of the virtual desktop pools was successful
Verify that the migration of the virtual desktop pools was successful by connecting to a virtual desktop pool with the test user account.
To verify that the migration of the virtual desktop pools was successful
On a client computer, click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.
In the Address bar, type https://<FQDN of the RD Web Access Server>/RDWeb and then press ENTER.
