Exercise - Set up scheduled kanban rules
Before you begin
To get the most benefit from this exercise, we recommend that you have the standard sample data available in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management that is installed by using Lifecycle Services.
Scenario
The company USMF has decided that the L0025 WLAN Radio software product is going to be planned off of a production schedule that results from a master planning run.
Configure item coverage
Go to Master planning > Setup > Item coverage.
Use the Filter search box to filter on the Item number field with a value of L0025.
Select Item coverage in the top menu.
Select New.
Set Minimum to 150.00.
In the Warehouse field, enter or select 13.
Select the General tab.
Select the Override time fences check box.
In the Automatic firming time fence (days) field, enter 1.
Select the Lead time tab.
Select the Production check box.
In the Production time field, enter 1.
Select Yes in the Working days field.
Select Save.
Close all pages.
Create a scheduled kanban rule
Go to Product information management > Lean manufacturing > Kanban rules.
Select New.
In the Replenishment strategy field, select Scheduled.
In the First plan activity field, enter or select Final assembly.
Collapse the Kanban rule section.
Expand the Details section.
In the Product field, enter or select L0025.
In the list, select the link in the highlighted row.
In the Configuration field, enter or select 01.
Select Save.
Close the page.
Run master planning
Go to Master planning > Master planning > Run > Master planning.
In the Master plan field, enter or select DynPlan.
Expand the Records to include section.
Select Filter.
In the Criteria field, enter L0025.
Select OK.
Select OK.
Go to Master planning > Master planning > Planned orders.
In the Quick filter field, enter a value of L0025 as the Item number and then press Enter.
Review planned kanbans for L0025.
Select the line with the quantity of 150.
Select Supply schedule.
Verify the results of the kanbans that were generated by Master planning.
