Describe the value proposition for mixed-reality Guides for production floor workers
Mixed Reality has so many use cases in so many industries from Healthcare over Manufacturing (Production process guides) and Asset management (Remote Inspections) to Training industry agnostic (Self-paced Training).
Here, be a few but not limited to how HoloLens and Dynamics 365 Guides can have an impact on business value and business operations - especially around the Asset management - Inspection list business scenario that Microsoft supports out of the box with Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Asset Management, Dual Write and Dynamics 365 Guides.
You can mitigate risk
By implementing safety measures and modeling processes via guides, you can enforce that all required steps are executed in alignment with security standards and in compliance with unified workflows.
For example, a step to wear a helmet or to ensure the machine is turned off.
Another business value could be quality assurance
You can ensure that maintenance and repair work orders are processed/executed in compliance with best practices and in alignment with corporate policies from a quality standpoint – short, minimize errors.
A guide assists a user through a process step by step.
That way, you can streamline your business processes, making them more efficient and error-free.
- For example, a user can be guided through an asset inspection step by step in alignment with my firm’s quality standards and it's harder to actually make an error with the detailed steps provided.
Training is another aspect
Sharing knowledge and enhancing capabilities of your workforce drives sustainable success and is important to stay competitive in the market place.
- Via guides, employees can easily be onboarded and trained on a process or operation.
It provides them all the necessary information easily.
The nature of interactive guides helps that an employee can undertake a business process or training on their own.
It doesn’t require any trainer by itself.
It saves time and helps you avoid scheduling troubles.
Moreover, you can also customize the training guides as per the specific needs of a trainee/training.
That way, Dynamics 365 Guides is a perfect way for employees to stay updated on changes to the company or their roles.
For example, I can get trained today on an asset maintenance repair scenario that I have never executed before - without a trainer (FTE).
Via Guides, it's easily to comprehend and follow and lastly it helps me gaining a new skill.
Productivity
Guides can level up your employees’ productivity, instead of requesting information such as do we have spare parts on hand, does this machine still have warranty, what is the next step to execute in a repair process, a technician can have this information handy via Guides and PowerApps action while being handsfree and working on the asset itself with 2 hands.
The handsfree aspect is a significant point - We usually use both hands to work efficiently.
When it comes to technicians, with their one hand occupied handling a manual, it becomes difficult to perform a task well.
For example, I had both hands free while performing the steps of the guides and inquiring about information such is there enough on hand for my spare parts, etc.
Management/Collaboration could also be a big factor
Since data of processed guides and maintenance checklists are stored in Dataverse and/or FO, you can easily report on KPIs and metrics.
Asset Managers could that way easily overlook an overview KPI dashboard and react if needed.
Use of Dynamics 365 Guides
Dynamics 365 Guides is the mixed reality application that displays step-by-step holographic instructions right where the work happens, enabling employees to learn and execute complex tasks. Use Dynamics 365 Guides to reduce errors, standardize skills, close knowledge gaps, and improve training and ongoing processes.
Instruction cards are visually tethered to the place where the work must be done, and can include images, videos, and 3D holographic models. Operators see what must be done, and where it must be done. Therefore, they can get the job done faster, with fewer errors, and greater skill retention.
Use Dynamics 365 Guides to:
Reduce errors and help increase safety - Provide employees with step by step guided instruction while they work to reduce errors. Make sure that no step is missed and reinforce compliance by providing standardized procedures and safety warnings in the flow of work.
Close knowledge gaps and strengthen skills - Capture best practices in standardized instructions that move with employees as they work, so no step is missed. Share photos, videos, and 3D models to personalize training and turn expert mentoring into a repeatable, interactive learning tool. With Dynamics 365 Guides, no custom coding is required.
Adapt to your work in real time - Quickly deploy skill-building initiatives that target a specific gap within a team and create consistency across locations. Enable employees to have confidence with new tasks with head-up, hands-free training on how to use the tools and parts they need on the job. Create decision trees within your guides to adapt employees’ work based on any context, and use Power Apps to save transactional data without ever having to leave the Dynamics 365 Guides application.
Improve training and processes - Onboard employees and aggregate their task performance data into real-time Microsoft Power BI dashboards, making it easier to identify where process improvements are needed. Integrate Dynamics 365 Guides within existing training and operational workflows to connect your people and your data.
