Exercise - Create an asset lease and payment schedule
Before you begin
This exercise should be performed in a Dynamics 365 Finance application release version 10.0.16 or higher. The company that is used for this exercise is Contoso demo data, USMF. The Asset leasing feature must also be enabled in the Feature management workspace.
Scenario
Your organization has signed a lease for a maintenance truck to support maintenance at your corporate headquarters. This exercise goes through the steps to set up the lease based on the contract for the leased asset.
- Go to Asset leasing > Leases > Lease summary.
- Select New in the Action Pane of the Lease summary page.
- In the Lease description field, enter Company Car.
- In the Fair value of the asset field, enter 32,500.
- In the Incremental borrowing rate field, enter 4.8.
- In the Compounding interval field, select Monthly.
- In the Asset useful life field, enter 24.
- In the Lease group field, select Vehicles.
- In the Commencement date field, select the first date of the current month.
- On the Lease summary page of your newly created asset lease, in the Payment schedule lines FastTab, select Add. The Start date should auto populate the commencement date that is entered in the General FastTab.
- In the Period interval field, select Monthly.
- In the Periods field, enter 24.
- In the Payment frequency field, select Monthly.
- In the Payment amount field, enter 575.00.
- Select Create schedules in the Action Pane. The Books page will show the available books for the lease and other information that was calculated from the data that was entered on the Lease summary page.
- Select Books in the Action Pane.
- On the Books page, in the Action Pane, select Function > Schedules > Payment schedule.
- Select Confirm schedule in the Action Pane.
- Close the page.
