People Near Me (PNM) uses the following components of Windows Vista:

Web Service Discovery

The Web Service Discovery component allows for the publication and discovery of services on the local subnet. In PNM, a user is a service that gets advertised on the local subnet. For more information about Web Service Discovery, see XML Web Service Discovery.

Schannel

The Schannel component allows for encrypted communication between two endpoints.

Windows Sockets

The Windows Sockets component is used by applications for communications over TCP/IP.

Next Generation TCP/IP Stack
