Welcome to //BUILD

This year’s BUILD conference is June 26-28 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.  This will be the first broad discussion and distribution of the next versions of Windows and Internet Explorer, and we hope to see many of you there!

The IE engineering team will have seven presentations at BUILD focusing on techniques and tools for building fast, touch-friendly, and immersive sites that harness the power of Windows. If you are at the show, we would encourage you to attend any of the following:

  WebGL, SPDY, and hopefully completely re-designed-throw-the-terrible-old-darn-near-useless Dev Tools should be awesome. Yes I said Awesome in a sentence regarding Internet Explorer. wow.

  As a reader of this forum since pre-IE9, and as a fanboy for open standards all I have: WELL-DONE!!!!!!! Now if you guys only stop using 'same markup', you earned using the frightword standards ;-)

  I  have solved Ie6-7-8 kind of problem enough. I know their is nothing useful from this kind of work. I don't know what you will made in IE9 (even useful)  but I will prefer to get my app done in Firefox and Chrome. Most of thing I never can implement because of buggy thing in IE9 or feature not available.

  I thing somebody changed my comment or I forget to type "made in IE11" instead of IE9. Well, How many time you hear that about IE crash (or something not work as you shown in ads). For me the big problem is when I see this thing broke in IE. ***, I need to remove a thing because of not work in IE ( waste a lot of time if you want compatibility).

  Thank you! All those updates are amazing. Today Mozilla has released Firefox version 22 with WebRTC support. This would tilt the field for Microsoft, if they are not considering WebRTC for IE 11's final release. People are getting almost Skype-like experience with WebRTC on Firefox and Chrome, and soon enough it would be improved and there will be dramatic adaption of this tech. So dear softies, while people are still tolerating your procrastination, please don't compromise on any kind of latest web technologies this time with version 11, so we don't have dependency on Chrome or Firefox to accomplish our daily tasks.

  Ie team has serious job to do to gain developers trust and following .. Almost everybody know nothing about ie developers tools , compare to chrome dev tools and its. We have been Microsoft shop for all that we know but ie developers tools is appaling even compare to classic firebug. It's good to hear that they have a new offering in ie 11, I'm afraid they are little late to the party, even if they build something that really good like everything what chrome dev tools have plus some more, like JavaScript intellisense and typescript debugging.  It's huge challenge for a lot of us to as long as we get what we want today , well most of it with chrome dev tools. Personally I would like to see Microsoft ship something radically different like , like a slim down visual studio shell, separately downloadable or may be with dev build,ala canary channel. You don't have to have the dev tools on every build, my mum definitely doesn't need one and my boss just don't care.

  Will the TextArea focus bugs in IE10 (on Windows 7 & 8) be fixed in any upcoming release or will the fix be announced at //Build? We're a little sick and tired of Microsoft ignoring this issue and making no comment about when it will be fixed.  Our clients think it is a bug in our code but it is a result of Microsoft's changes (likely directly related to adding the Spell Checker feature to IE10) I wish @EricLaw or @ChrisWilson still worked there - they wouldn't let this kind of usability issue just sit and rot in the app without a fix. Or is it just that @DeanHachamovitch is still IE's worst manager and can't do anything except spin PR messages to hide & ignore all of IE's flaws?

  @Jason, According to a Connect link in the previous article ("June 2013 Internet Explorer Updates"), the IE Team has reproduced the issue but they will not fix it in IE10. Instead, it will be fixed in IE 11.

  Channel 9 is hosting the BUILD content here: channel9.msdn.com/.../2013.   Although a few will be broadcast live, most talks will be available 24-48 hours after the live presentation to allow time for video processing.
