3.2.5.13 Receiving an SMB_COM_SEEK Response

The SMB_COM_SEEK response MUST be processed as specified in section 3.2.5.1.

If the request was successful, the current offset within the specified file is returned. The offset value MUST be passed to the application. If an error status is returned (see section 2.2.4.19.2 for a list of possible errors and their causes), the error status MUST be passed to the application.

If the CAP_LARGE_FILES capability has been negotiated, then the client and server support 64-bit file offsets. The SMB_COM_SEEK command, however, supports only 32-bit offset values. The server MUST return only the lower order 32 bits of the actual 64-bit offset. If the file is larger than 2 ** 32 - 1 bytes in size, the offset returned by the server MAY be an invalid value.<210>
