Installer version 2.45.375.24159 - Microsoft Store version 11.2406.402.0 updates

New Features

  • New actions that are dedicated to data table use cases are now available, to accommodate the respective operations out of the box:

    • Insert column into data table
    • Delete column from data table
    • Delete empty rows from data table
    • Delete duplicate rows from data table
    • Clear data table
    • Sort data table
    • Filter data table
    • Merge data tables
    • Join data tables
    • Read from CSV text variable
    • Convert data table to text
  • New actions for Excel automation are now available in desktop flows:

    • Copy Excel worksheet
    • Read formula from Excel
    • Get table range from Excel worksheet
    • Auto fill cells in Excel worksheet
    • Append cells in Excel worksheet
    • Lookup range in Excel worksheet
  • Fallback mechanism - Image-based fallback for UI elements

Power Automate for desktop now supports a robust fallback mechanism for UI elements. If the configured selectors fail to identify a UI element on the screen, users can now capture a screenshot of the element and set it as an alternative method. In instances where UI or browser automation actions are at risk of failing due to unlocated UI elements, the image fallback feature activates. Power Automate for desktop will then search for the UI element using the captured image and interact with it accordingly.

  • In the properties pane of a desktop flow in the console of Power Automate for desktop, you can now set a maximum running time, upon which the flow will be forced to time out.

This feature is available for premium users in schema v2 environments.

Enhancements & Improvements

  • Citrix/RDP virtual machine connection string editing

    • Users can now manage and edit the connection string for virtual desktops directly within the Selector Builder window. This enhancement allows the connection string to be treated as a selector, providing greater flexibility and customization for Citrix/RDP connections.
  • The selected Python version in the ‘Run Python script’ action is now visible in its summary for quick reference.

  • The performance of the flow designer’s window has now been improved, decreasing its loading time.

  • The tooltips of some input parameters in the action ‘Get password from CyberArk’ have now been improved, so that they provide more information to be properly configured.

  • A new parameter called ‘Script description’ has now been added in the ‘Run .NET script’ action, allowing for a custom action summary that will be visible in the flow designer for reference.

Repaired Functionality

The following list details issues in Power Automate for desktop that are now resolved:

  • A minor issue with the ‘New flow’ button being disabled under the ‘Begin your automation journey’ area of the console has now been resolved.

  • Newly captured images in the designer are no longer visible in the search results, when the applied search term doesn’t match the new image’s name.

  • When using multiple loop actions, the index in the name of their produced variables now increases as expected.

  • Filtering custom actions and UI elements collections by the ‘Added in flow’ option in the Assets library is now persistent, after refreshing the list.

  • A certain issue on UI elements collections has now been resolved, restoring the ability to properly import collections, which have been explicitly copied from other collections in the respective portal page.

  • An issue occurring in some connector operations that handle downloading files more than 50MB, leading to the error “Chunking Failed: Created file has invalid size”, has now been resolved.

  • For console-initiated runs, the error details of cloud connector execution errors are now properly shown in the action logs of the respective flow run in the portal.

  • In the ‘Send email’ action, Bcc recipients are no longer visible in the data of the email.

  • Machines are no longer selectable in UI element parameter in UI automation actions.

  • Issue in SAP with ‘Wait for window content’ action when the action waits for specific text is now handled.

  • Power Automate agent for virtual desktops installer link to installation log file is fixed.

  • Fixed issue in Internet Explorer browser with failures and never-ending actions.

  • PictureInPicture window icon is the same no matter if the run is triggered locally or from the cloud.

  • PictureInPicture ‘View only’ and ‘Always on top’ states get saved when run from cloud.

  • When PictureInPicture is not enabled on the machine and running a flow from the cloud, the dialog (to enable) now timeouts.

  • An error message is added when trying to close the PictureInPicture session and a flow is running.

  • Dismissing the PictureInPicture window closure confirmation dialog, does not close the PictureInPicture window.

  • Fixed issue with PictureInPicture 'Always on top' toggle that gets disabled on dismiss.

Other announcements

  • When you use cloud connector operations in a desktop flow, you now have the ability (in public preview) to embed therein some or all your connection references. In this way, other co-owners, with whom you have shared your desktop flow, can safely use your connections in the context of that desktop flow. This unlocks cloud-initiated runs in the respective use cases, whereas for console local runs, co-owners will not be required to bring their own connections.

This embedding functionality is available in the details page of the desktop flow in the portal of Power Automate, through the ‘Connection references’ pane.
