Local Authentication Plugin (LAP)

An authentication mechanism that plugs into LASS is called a LAP.
The LAP component is completely replaceable, according to the LASS/LAP model.
An individual LAP is responsible for determining optional support levels, which includes Authentication Reset. If a LAP supports this feature, it must rely on the AuthenticationReset registry value to determine if is allowed. It is recommended, but not required, that the LAP use AuthResetGetValue to display messages during the process in order to convey specific information from the Authentication Reset Component (ARC) or IT admin.
