Flow 9: Sending Forward-Locked FDRM-Protected Content

4/8/2010

You have the following options on how to handle Forward-Locked FDRM-protected content.

  • Applications that forward content may choose not to display content locked to the device in the pickers.
  • MMS may choose to disable the forward option for Forward-Locked content.
  • If an application such as MMS is the only application that can render some content, you might show the above FDRM engine notification but also allow the content to be attached to messages for viewing only purposes.

The following illustration shows an example of UI flow and the FDRM engine UI when using a MMS picker.

The following table shows the image set associated with each screen.

Content should only be displayed in a preview if it has valid time-based rights.

For prompt-based rights, the user should be notified prior to decrementing rights. See Example Flow: FDRM-Protected Content with Active Rights.

Screen 3

Protected item cannot be forwarded (FDRM engine).

After this screen, the application could return to the previous screen or in the MMS case the content could be attached to the message so the user could view it.
