Kernel-Level Security (Secure Audio Path)

Secure Audio Path (SAP), a feature of Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition and Microsoft Windows XP, is a security enhancement to the digital rights management (DRM) model. Secure Audio Path provides an infrastructure for keeping digital music encrypted all the way to the DRM component of the computer kernel.

Note   Windows Vista does not support SAP. If you require SAP for your content, users of Windows Vista can play it only with an application that is based on the Microsoft Media Foundation SDK, which then uses the Protected User Mode Audio (PUMA) feature.
