Specify the Network Key Example

4/8/2010

The Wi-Fi Configuration Service Provider allows you to specify the network encryption key.

Code Example

The following example shows how to specify the network encryption key for an access-point network. In this example, the network name is "Work Network." Replace the placeholder with a valid network encryption key.

Note

This parm is stored and sent as plain text. You should make sure you transmit XML that contains this setting in a secure manner since access to the XML provides access to the network encryption key.

<characteristic type="Wi-Fi">
    <characteristic type="access-point">
        <characteristic type="Work Network">
            <parm name="NetworkKey" value="NetworkKey"/>
        </characteristic>
    </characteristic>
</characteristic>

The following example shows how to specify the network encryption key for a device-to device network. In this example, the network name is "Work Network." Replace the placeholder with a valid network encryption key.

<characteristic type="Wi-Fi">
    <characteristic type="ad-hoc">
        <characteristic type="Work Network">
            <parm name="NetworkKey" value="NetworkKey"/>
        </characteristic>
    </characteristic>
</characteristic>

Remarks

One provisioning XML file typically contains configuration information for multiple Configuration Service Providers. To use this example, you must replace the values as appropriate, and add the node as a child of the OMA Client Provisioning file. For information about the syntax of this file, see OMA Client Provisioning Files. For examples, see OMA Client Provisioning XML File Examples.
