How to Select Catalog Properties for Import
For the latest version of Commerce Server 2007 Help, see the Microsoft Web site.
You use the Catalog and Inventory Schema Manager to select which catalog properties are to be imported into the Data Warehouse.
To select catalog properties to import into the Data Warehouse
Open the Catalog and Inventory Schema Manager.
In the Views section, select Property Definitions.
In the Property Definitions screen, double-click the property you want to import into the Data Warehouse.
In the Basic Properties tab, check the Store for Data Analysis check box.
Click Save on the Edit Property form toolbar.
Repeat this process for other properties you want to import.
Close the Edit Property form.
Data for this catalog property will be collected in the Commerce Server database.
Note
You cannot change the property name or type in a catalog definition. You can delete the property, and then add it again using a new name and type. To extend the Data Warehouse schema so that you can import different types of data, you must use Commerce Server Enterprise Edition. This functionality is unavailable in Commerce Server Standard Edition.
Processing the New Catalog Properties
After the new properties are in production on your Web site, you can run the Product catalog import DTS task and the Profile data import DTS task. The DTS tasks process the new properties in the following order:
The DTS tasks compare the existing Data Warehouse schema with the profile schema or catalog schema.
The DTS tasks add new columns to the Data Warehouse schema as needed, and then import data into the Data Warehouse. An incremental import adds values only for new columns. A full import adds all the data.
The DTS tasks automatically create the new Data Warehouse class and member(s) for the new properties. The DTS tasks do not create any relations in the Data Warehouse.
