remove Element for httpHandlers (ASP.NET Settings Schema) 

Removes a verb/path mapping to an IHttpHandler interface.

<remove verb="[verb list]" path-"path"/>

Attributes and Elements

The following sections describe attributes, child elements, and parent elements.

Attributes

Attribute Description

verb

Required attribute.

Specifies the verb list that matches the verb list of the handler to remove.

path

Required attribute.

Specifies the path that matches the path of the handler to remove.

Parent Elements

Element Description

configuration

Specifies the required root element in every configuration file that is used by the common language runtime and the .NET Framework applications.

system.web

Specifies the root element for the ASP.NET configuration section.

httpHandlers

Maps incoming requests to the appropriate handler, according to the URL and the HTTP verb that are specified in the request.

Remarks

The remove directive must exactly match the verb/path mapping of a previous <add> directive. Wildcard characters are not supported.

Example

The following code example demonstrates how to remove all handler mappings to SOAP handlers.
