IIS Registry Entries

IIS stores minimal configuration data in the Windows Registry. It is recommended that you configure IIS by using the metabase instead of the registry. This is because registry entries that exist to enable backward compatibility with previous versions of IIS are duplicated in the metabase, and setting them in the metabase updates the registry.

For a list of IIS registry entries that are applicable to a specific version of IIS, see the section titled "Registry Reference" in the IIS administration guide that is included with IIS. Or, see the topic Registry Reference on the Microsoft TechNet Web site.
