Notes

The SecureFtpPassword property provides additional security for the password while it is stored in memory and should be used instead of FtpPassword.

When possible, prompt users to enter security credentials at run time. If you must store credentials, use the cryptographic services provided by the Windows .NET Framework.

The password is never returned by SecureFtpPassword.

The SecureFtpPassword property can only be set by members of the sysadmin fixed server role at the Publisher or by members of the db_owner fixed database role on the publication database. Users in the publication access list (PAL) can set the SecureFtpPassword property of an existing publication.

Setting the SecureFtpPassword property is equivalent to executing sp_addpublication (Transact-SQL) and sp_changepublication (Transact-SQL) or sp_addmergepublication (Transact-SQL) and sp_changemergepublication (Transact-SQL).
