Supported Installation Modes and Setup Types

Table 7 indicates the installation modes and setup types that MOM 2005 SP1 supports. Unless otherwise noted, these are for new installations of MOM 2005 SP1.

Installs the MOM Database, Management Server, MOM Administrator console, and MOM Operator console.

MOM 2005 SP1 Setup Wizard

Installs the components that you select on the local computer. You can select the following:

  • MOM Database

  • Management Server

  • User interfaces (MOM Administrator console and MOM Operator console)

  • Web console

  • MOM Connector Framework

  • MOM Product Connector

Unattended MOM 2005 SP1 setup

Custom

Installs the components that you select on the local computer by using command-line switches.

MOM 2005 SP1 Reporting Setup Wizard

N/A

Installs the MOM Reporting components on the specified computer.

Manual MOM 2005 SP1 Agent Setup Wizard

Single Management Server

Installs a MOM agent on the local computer with the agent reporting to a single Management Server.

Manual MOM 2005 SP1 Agent Setup Wizard

Multihomed (multiple Management Servers)

Updates a MOM agent on the local computer with the agent reporting to an additional management group. The Agent Setup Wizard must be run multiple times and an agent can report to four management groups.

Unattended MOM 2005 SP1 agent setup

N/A

Installs the MOM agent on local computer by using command-line switches.

If MP Helper Objects are required, their setup must be run separately.

Add or Remove Programs (post installation)

Custom

Adds, repairs, or removes MOM components on the local computer by using Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. Starts the MOM 2005 SP1 Setup Wizard.

Unattended MOM 2005 SP1 setup (post installation)

Custom

Adds, repairs, or removes MOM components by using command-line switches.
