The Microsoft Software Definition Package schema (the “Schema”) is an XML schema that defines how to describe software updates. The Schema is available on a computer on which Windows Server Update Service is installed, in the %Program Files%\Update Services\Schema folder. Various Microsoft software technologies (such as Systems Management Server, Windows Server Update Service, and System Center Essentials) can consume software updates described according to the Schema. The purpose of this agreement is to grant software vendors certain rights for implementing the Schema in their own software.
