Single-tiered Proxy
The single-tiered proxy scenario is illustrated in the following diagram.

The client is configured to use P1 as a proxy server. Typically, the proxy can be configured to:
Connect to the origin server and proxy the requested content to the client.
Redirect the client to an alternate origin server. For more information, see URL Redirection.
Redirect the client to an alternate proxy server. For more information, see Proxy Redirection.
Stream the content from cache.
Roll over to a different protocol than that specified by the client.
Disconnect the client.
Windows Media Services uses a cache proxy plug-in to implement any or all of the preceding policy decisions.
