DUA Fails to Write Registry Updates

Learn what to do when DUA fails to update the registry.

Resolution

  • Verify that the DUA service account has appropriate write permissions on the registry. Different registry hives use different permissions. Verify the permissions for the hive you want to update. For example, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE uses different permissions than HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

Example

The device update program (.dup) file includes updates to the registry, but the updates to the registry fail.
