Perimeter Network (Compact 2013)

3/26/2014

A perimeter network (also known as DMZ, demilitarized zone, and screened subnet) is a subordinate network separate from an organization's private network and the Internet. A perimeter network provides multi-layer protection between the Internet and the internal network of an organization. A perimeter network protects data that is stored by the proprietary servers and can be used to audit protected assets.

Because a perimeter network is a challenging environment for the information technology (IT) department, Windows Embedded Compact devices should not be deployed in a perimeter network.
