CEPC-based SDB Motherboard and Card Configuration (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/5/2010

Consult the motherboard documentation for information on configuring the motherboard, the jumper settings for the microprocessor, and system memory. The following table shows a typical hardware configuration for a CEPC that is based on the Asus P5A motherboard. The hardware configuration for your CEPC may be different, depending on the type of motherboard you have chosen and the number of available I/O slots.

Slot number Card Interrupt (IRQ) I/O base Comments

AGP video slot

Use a supported AGP-based video card.

Auto

None

Required only if a PCI-based display card is not already used in Slot 1.

PCI slot 1

Use a supported PCI-based video card.

Auto

None

Required.

PCI slot 2

Use a supported PCI-based Ethernet card for downloading and debugging.

Auto

0. If you are using a PCI-based network card for downloading and debugging, the driver automatically chooses an appropriate I/O base address that is usable with this card.

Required only if an ISA-based network card is not already used in ISA slot 2 for downloading and debugging.

PCI slot 3

Use a supported PCI-based Ethernet card for product Ethernet.

Auto

Not applicable

Required only if network data access or networking functionality is needed.

PCI slot 4

Use a supported PCI-based USB controller.

Auto

Not applicable

Required only if USB is not built into the motherboard.

PCI slot 5 or ISA slot 1

Use a supported PC Card Socket adapter.

11 (ISA)

0x3E0 — 0x3E1

0x3E2 — 0x3E3

Optional.

ISA slot 2

Use a supported ISA-based Ethernet card for downloading and debugging.

5

0x340. If your ISA-based network card does not support this I/O base address, choose a different address that does not conflict with other drivers.

Required only if a PCI-based network card is not already used in PCI slot 2 for downloading and debugging.

Note

You are not required to use the hardware configuration specified in the table above. However, because Windows Embedded CE is not a Plug and Play OS, if you choose to use a different hardware configuration, you must configure the CEPC correctly and ensure that there are no device conflicts.
