Choosing Miscellaneous CEPC Hardware (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

Depending on the operating system (OS) features you want to evaluate, you may need to add hardware to or remove hardware from your CEPC. For current Windows Embedded CE hardware list, see this Microsoft Web site.

To choose miscellaneous CEPC hardware

  • Using the examples in the following table as a guide, choose additional hardware for your CEPC.

    The following table shows examples of some additional hardware you can use with your CEPC. Not all of the hardware listed in the table is required, nor is the table an exhaustive list. Choose appropriate hardware based on the OS features you want to evaluate on your CEPC.

    Component Description

    PCI audio card

    Required for audio-based features.

    NE2000-compatible, PCI, debug Ethernet card

    Required for debug Ethernet capability.

    3.5-inch 1.44 MB floppy disk drive

    Required for the boot floppy disk.

    IDE CD drive, IDE DVD-ROM drive

    Hitachi**, Matshita**, Toshiba**

    Optional.

    IDE hard disk drive

    IBM**, Maxtor**, Western Digital**

    Required for persistent storage.

    Infrared controller

    Required for infrared-based features.

    PC100 or PC133 3.3 V memory

    Typically 32 MB.

    Required for storage of run-time image.

    Microprocessor

    P5**, PII**, PIII**, Pentium 4**, Celeron**, K6x**, K7**, Athlon**, Duron**

    Required.

    Any newer x86 model motherboard

    Required.

    PC Card controller

    Envoy Data PC Card Host Controller SBP-D2**, TI-1250/1225**, Intel 82365-based controller**, ActionTec PC750**

    Required PC Card-based features.

    250W or 300W power supply for Pentium 4 and Athlon or Duron processors**

    Required.

    NE2000-compatible, PCI, product Ethernet card

    Required for product Ethernet.

    USB Host Controller

    Onboard OHCI or UHCI controller**, ADS Tech USB Port PCI OHCI**

    Required USB-based features.
