Creating a Device Emulator Image Using the OS Design Wizard (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

You can create a Device Emulator OS Design and run-time image using the Windows Embedded CE OS Design Wizard.

To create a Device Emulator OS design

  1. From the File menu, click New.

  2. From the New Project dialog box, select Platform Builder project type. Name the project and click OK. The Windows Embedded CE OS Design Wizard opens.

  3. From the Windows Embedded CE OS Design Wizard home page, click Next to continue to create your Device Emulator OS design.

  4. From the Board Support Packages screen, check Device Emulator: ARMV4 and click Next.

  5. From the Design Templates screen, select the Design Template you want to use and click Next.

  6. If your chosen Design Template has variants, the Design Template Variants screen appears. Select the variant that you prefer and click Next.

  7. From the Applications & Media screen, select items to include in your Device Emulator OS Design and click Next.

  8. From the Networking & Communications screen, select items to include in your Device Emulator OS Design and click Next.

  9. When you have completed the Wizard, click Finish to create your OS Design project.

    If your chosen OS design contains components that require usage notifications, a Usage Notification screen will appear. To continue to create the design, select Acknowledge. When the Windows Embedded CE OS Design Wizard indicates that the OS design project has been created, you are ready to build.

  10. From the Build menu, select Advanced Build Commands, and then select Sysgen. When the build process has completed, you are ready to configure connectivity settings for your Device Emulator image.

  11. KITL over DMA is the default mechanism for transport and download. For information about settings, see Configuring DMA Connectivity Settings for the Device Emulator.
